If the ACC enters into an agreement with a mid-major
(at least I don't think the Atlantic 10 is close to being perceived to be a power conference like the Big East), then does that diminish the perception of the ACC as a power conference? At least I don't think the other power conferences (including the Big East) have an agreement in place to share a venue with a "mid-major."
I don't think the agreement will change people from viewing the ACC as 1 of the Top 2 (or 3) basketball conferences in the country. I do think that if the ACC is #2, then it may have difficulty reclaiming the top spot in some people's minds because of the agreement even though the agreement should have no impact on the perception. Call it the "football effect" because it may be viewed in the same light as the ACC entering into a scheduling agreement with a G5 conference in order to share a venue for the CCG.
